The Chirkei  hydroelektrik power station  is located in a seismically active region in a complicated geological environment. The project was first ever to be built with a biconvex concrete arch dam: height -- 232.5m; crest thickness – 6m; at the base – 30m.   Concrete placement and assembly operations were performed with the help of three cable cranes with a hoisting power of 25 tons and a span of 550 m. The dam was built by the traditional “pole” method with “leading” and “retarding” sections.
